RE: Not compatible in later versions of SSF?
Joystick compatibility, mainly. You can have up to six players at once in Guardian Heroes. SSF .07 only has keyboard compatibility. There's also a bug in the emulation of this game in version .07 wherein it freezes at the exact same point every time, about in the middle of chapter 2. The game is virtually unplayable beyond chapter 1.
The latest version of SSF still shows a frozen black screen after the intro movie when the no bios option is used. A notable difference between .07 and all other later versions, though, is that when I'm trying to play this game in a later versions of SSF--with or without "no bios" and regardless of what sort of cartridge memory I've chosen--the game asks up front if I'm to use system memory or cartridge memory. After selecting one or the other, it proceeds to the introduction--then the black screen. The initial pre-game question of cartridge/system memory is absent from emulation in version .07.
