Got a new PC and it runs SSF very well indeed
I can confirm that SSF runs perfectly on an i3 2120 using the built-in graphics.
This is not much of a surprise as it worked well even on the older Intel HD graphics chips, but its good to know that relatively common budget PCs can now run SSF perfectly well.
No longer do you need a gaming class PC to run SSF.

SSF 0.12 Beta R1 added to the downloads page
I have added the latest version of SSF with icon to the downloads page.
To be honest I am kinda surprised Shima has not added the icon to SSF by default now as I did mention it in the official SSF forum when I first created the icon. Still, it gives me something to post about on here I suppose.
I have also re-organised the Site Contributors page to make it clearer which users have contributed the most to the site. A big shout out to Baffou who has added a huge amount of entries to the compatibility list, dwarfing my own contributions.

SSF 0.12 Alpha is out, updated with icon in the downloads section
SSF 0.12 seems to have been focused on optimisations as I can now run NiGHTS on my laptop which is only a 1.3Ghz Core 2 Duo.
The video running behind the audio on the intro seems to be fixed, as well as the in-game music sounding slightly wrong. To be fair, I haven't reached soft museum yet to see if that is correct, that is my favourite level so I notice anything being slightly off with the music on it.
Overall though, what a great launch of the new year. I had feared since I downgraded from a 2.1Ghz laptop to a 1.3Ghz netbook-sized laptop, that I might never be able to run SSF full speed again.

Screenshots in Google Chrome 4, fixed!
Fixed a bug where in Google Chrome 4 (possibly other browsers but none I tested) if you had previously displayed a screenshot it would fail to display again, because the onload is not called if its already in the browsers cache.
The fix also has the nice effect of allowing everyone to see the loading background briefly before the image fades in, even on a fast connection or if the image has been cached.

Screenshots Migrated and Server Troubles
The screenshots have been indexed into the database ready to allow easier screenshot submissions.
The main difference you will see is it can now tell you how many screenshots a game has in the compatibility list, rather than having to look at the game details first.
You may also have noticed the site was down for about 8 hours. This was due to a server glitch while hunting the problem preventing the screenshots from being thumbnailed.

Updated the Message Board to allow assigning posts to games
There were some bugs with the message board which may have meant message were not viewable to people who were logged in. Fortunately I caught it quickly and fixed it today as well as adding the ability to associate a post with a game.
You can also post about a specific game from that games details page.
I also wanted to welcome our newest member Jooper who has submitted 15 SSF compatibility reports already.
That is pretty impressive as that is about the same number as I myself have submitted so far. It only appears I have submitted 100s because I had to assign reports from the old site to my username. The majority of those were in fact submitted by other users but they have not registered with the site yet so I could not associate it to them.

Message Board now online.
Please excuse the mess, I spent a lot of time getting the PHP and database exactly right so the interface is still a little limited.
The only thing you need to know is the subject goes in the box at the top, the message goes in the big grey area underneath. I will make things clearer in the coming days, I just wanted to get it online quickly to tie everything together.
The full version will of course have smileys (they are actually already here but there is no shortcut to insert them in your post yet) and you will also be able to assign your post to a specific game from the Saturn games list. This will mean when browsing a game on the compatibility list it will also show message board posts related to that game. The idea being if you have problems getting a game to run you can post about it in here first before submitting a compatibility report, and any solutions will automatically be linked back to the compatibility list.
Its all great in theory, lets just hope some more people drop by and test everything out. Well that, and I have to write that part of the code yet. But that will actually be the easier part.
Please Note: Timezone support is currently not enabled as I was hoping to use a new PHP function to do this but my host was unable to upgrade PHP as planned. As such it has delayed me enabling the timezone correction so all dates/times will remain UTC for the time being.
